UNSODA: Particle
size distribution, retention curve and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity
database (bulk density, organic matter content and additional information
regarding the soil and the experimental procedures is included). Has been
widely used to develop and test Pedo-Transfer Functions. The interactive
software for DOS includes a DBMS and an optimization code for the estimation
of soil hydraulic function parameters.
Authors: Leij, F. J., W. J. Alves, M. Th. van Genuchten, and J. R.
Williams., USDA-ARS Salinity Laboratory, Riverside/CA.
-
HYPRES: HYdraulic
PRoperties of European Soils Database. Responsible: Henk Woesten (SC-DLO)
and Allan Lilly (MLURI). It appears the data are not accessible via WWW
at the moment (work on HYPRES is in progress).
-
SOIL
DATA - Estimation of the waterholding-capacity of soils in Europe. The
compilation of a soil dataset.(A predecessor of HYPRES)
-
SOIL,
a unsaturated flow and transport code by Per Erik Jansson that comes with
the complete Swedish database of soil physical properties (PFPROF). The
database contains basic and hydraulic property data of single horizons
in the context of complete soil profiles.
-
MACRO_DB
- a decision-support tool for predicting pesticide fate and mobility in
soils by Nicholas Jarvis. The system currently allows access to three
soils databases : SEISMIC (c. 400 U.K. benchmark soils; Hollis et al.,
1993), MARKDATA (26 Swedish soils), and a database that the user can develop
independently. Automatic estimation procedures (pedo-transfer functions)
translate the soils information into model parameter values. Two pesticide
databases are available. The PETE database (Nicholls, 1994) contains information
for over 600 common compounds. Databases are linked to MACRO, a Non-steady
state model of waterflow and solute transport in macroporous soil
